Richmond Racing has evolved, over a number of years. From the humble beginnings of the MG Owners Club. The team participated in the first season of Ginetta Race Championships (G27 Pentel Championship), leading races and gaining podiums, it was an enduring relationship that still continues today. Then, whilst still competing in the Ginetta Championship the team were instrumental in creating the G27R. During that season Richmond Racing broke all the records and large parts of the programme went on to be included in the current G20 race cars. The team were heavily involved in the G20 race series, running three cars, which featured at the front of the class. Competing alongside the G20 championship the team were also getting handy GT experience under their belt by racing in the Europa Championship which gave the team their first taste of racing wheel to wheel and beating Porsches! Richmond Racing’s plucky image, of hitting well above their power and weight was born. The Europa Championship also featured Ultima GTs and Marcoses amongst other exotic machinery. 

From then on, the team had one objective, to take a Ginetta to the grid of the British GT Championship. To push the drivers, mechanics and support team to new highs. The team slotted in to the whole GT experience and relished the chance to show off their skills on all fronts. Stepping up from twenty minute races to one hour races and of course two hour endurance races allowed the whole team to gain invaluable experience. The team were able to show that they could compete shoulder to shoulder with factory teams and established endurance teams on a par. Often causing surprises and able to upset the form card.
